A poem by a Ferry Project client
This poem was written by one of our clients, reflecting on their life before and after their engagement with Ferry Project.
I know how hard the pavements are.
I know the lonely streets.
I’ve sat watching people sneer at me
With a begging bowl at my feet.
The pouring rain and I are mates.
The Winter is the one I hate
To wake so cold is a fear I know
To feel alone, unwanted - terribly low.
I have lived in this world without a friend,
I have had no warmth to give.
I have known no joy or love to share.
This is no way to live.
The Ferry is my Family,
They took me in and gave me hope.
They care for me, though I don’t know why.
Their smiles help me see the love that is mine.
My confidence is beginning to bud.
My future now is looking BRIGHT!
I want to share my story, I want to dance.
I don’t know why I deserve this chance.
