Client Cookery Lessons Set to Expand
Our Cookery School not only provides top-quality cookery tuition to members of the public looking to learn how to cook, or who have a desire to expand their culinery repertoir or enhance their food knowledge. Our tutors also teach basic cookery life-skills to our homeless clients which are funded through the fee paying members of the public who attend our community classes and groups.
These client sessions have been going so well that demand has grown amongst our clients and we are expanding our client lessons.
Our Wednesday group session is very well attended and is aimed at mealtime dishes, which will continue.
Due to several requests for baking recipes we are introducing a new 'Wellbeing Baking' session on Tuesdays. We ran a trial session this week and it was well attended with one client commenting "this really makes me smile".
We are also set to run another Roast Dinner Day in the near future. Last time we had eight clients come and help make the dinner and at least another 12 came and joined in the eating. It is rare the clients get a roast and this gives the opportunity for them to have one, gets them cooking, becomes a social event and helps us build a rapport with any new clients that have not yet accessed the kitchen.
The last time we had a Roast Dinner Day we put out a request on Facebook for donations of meat and we were kindly given chickens, gammon and a pork joint. The vegetables and gravy all come in with our regular donations from various supermarkets.
