Visit to Wisbech Grammar School

On Monday 29th September, John Heathorn (our Homelessness HUB, Rough Sleeper Initiative and Night Services Manager) and Matt (our Communications Officer), visited Wisbech Grammar School that is located on the opposite bank of the Nene River to Octavia View, our main base of operations.

In April, the school prefects orgainsed a charity fundraising event in aid of Ferry Project and raised £611.07 for our work.

We were invited to attend a school assembly to speak about the work of the Ferry Project and we also took the opportunity to say thank you for the generous donation that they made. John spoke about some of the history of the Ferry Project as well as sharing some of his personal journey experiencing homelessness. Matt then shared some of the statistics of our work and mentioned how we help to rescue people from homelessness and help them transition from that place of despair and trauma, through healing and rehabilitation, and finally on to independent living.

We appreciate every opportunity we are given to engage with the community and to raise awareness of and educate people about rural homelessness and would like to thank Wisbech Grammar School for this opportunity.
