A BOO-tiful BBQ

The damp and the rain have started to set in, the shadows of the night fall long across muddy fields. It is that time of year when we like to light Jack-O'-Lanterns tell scary stories around the fire. But now, let me tell you a story about what happens next...

Those who have experienced homelessness have quite literally lived through a nightmare. They have had to cope with the constant fear of where their next meal is coming from and worrying about if they will make it through the night without being attacked. Often cold, hungry and stressed, homelessness is not a happy experience.

This is why we do not believe in enabling people to contine to live in the nighmare of homelessness - rather we reach in and pull people out. We provide rescue and respite. We give accommodation as well as restore a sense of worth and dignity in a safe, trauma-informed environment.

Part of this is giving our clients opportunities to engage socially and creatively.

This Halloween clients were able to decorate pumpkins to help get the spooky season underway.

Then in the evening we hosted a Big Boo-tiful Halloween BBQ outside in the plaza area.

The clients helped to plan and prepare the event. There were lashings of food to keep you warm and cosy: homemade burgers, homemade baked beans, wood fired prawns, wood fired potatoes, sausages, spiced chicken, and Witches Brew to wash it down.

It was a very successful event and was enjoyed by all.
