Surface and Substance at Wisbech Gallery
Wisbech Gallery is delighted to present ‘Surface & Substance’, a compelling exhibition which showcases work from across the careers of artists Neville Palmer and Tom Thompson. ‘Surface & Substance’ brings together a wonderful collection of paintings, sculptures, and graphic artworks which illustrate how the artists’ work has developed and adapted to new ideas and technology.
Tom Thompson’s ceramic and wood sculptures capture light and the tactile quality of materials, presenting a closer look into the artist’s personal experiences and stories. In contrast, Neville Palmer’s collection of drawings, paintings and graphic works, spanning across over five decades, comprise of thousands of small, colourful squares; each piece drawing in viewers to a different phase of the artist’s career.
‘Surface & Substance’ shares an inspiring story of two great artists coming together to celebrate their careers. The exhibition gives visitors a chance to reflect on the relationship between material and method and join the artists on this thoughtful and visually enriching journey.
