Ferry Project Secures £14,225 to Bring Cookery Courses to Local Families

We have some wonderful news to share — and we couldn’t be more proud.

The Ferry Project has successfully secured £14,225 from the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation through the Medworth Community Fund. This funding will allow us to run nine five-week cookery courses for local families and individuals across our community.

Why This Matters

For many people in Fenland, the rising cost of living isn’t a headline — it’s a daily reality. Putting healthy, nutritious food on the table when budgets are stretched to breaking point is a genuine challenge, and one that too many families face alone.

That’s why this funding is so significant. These courses aren’t just about cooking — they’re about confidence, independence, and practical skills that stay with people for life.

Participants will:

  • Learn valuable cooking and meal-planning skills that make a real difference day to day
  • Build confidence in preparing healthy, nutritious meals from scratch
  • Make food budgets go further — discovering how to eat well without spending more
  • Strengthen independence and wellbeing through practical knowledge and peer support

Building on What We Do Best

The Ferry Project Cookery School has long been at the heart of what makes our approach different. We don’t just provide a roof over someone’s head — we equip people with the tools to live well and independently. Cookery is one of the most tangible, transferable skills we can share, and seeing participants grow in confidence with every session never gets old.

This new programme extends that same spirit of empowerment to the wider community — reaching local families and individuals who are navigating cost of living pressures and looking for practical support.

Thank You

Securing funding like this doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of hard work, dedication, and a team that genuinely believes in what they do.

Thank you to everyone across The Ferry Project whose commitment makes achievements like this possible. Every grant we secure, every course we deliver, every person we support — it all comes from the collective effort of an extraordinary group of people.

This is another great win for our clients, our community, and everyone who makes The Ferry Project what it is.
