Ferry Project Triumphs at National Housing Awards

The Ferry Project was victorious at the recent Housing Executive Awards, winning the prestigious ‘Homelessness Project of the Year’ award.

Held at the Bolton Wanderers Football Stadium on Tuesday 6th October 2026, these national awards seek to celebrate the hard work and dedication of those involved in the social housing sector.

Editor of Housing Executive magazine, Harry Palmer said “Regardless of the obstacles in the way, the people [at the awards ceremony] make up those organisations that go above and beyond in their mission to ensure a stable, affordable home is not a luxury, but a human right, one that is necessary as the bedrock to any healthy, fulfilled life.”

Ferry Project was represented at the event by their CEO, Sandra Ferreira, as finalists in two categories: Partnership of the Year and Homelessness Project of the Year.

In the Partnership of the Year category, Ferry Project shared the stage with local arts and creatives group Blackfield Creatives. Their partnership brings together two worlds that rarely meet: homelessness support and contemporary arts. Together, they are breaking down barriers to culture, inclusion and wellbeing by embedding creativity into everyday support.

Ferry Project were amongst other finalists in the Homelessness of the Year category, which included Gloucester City Homes, Rady4Home Supported Housing, Telford & Wrekin Council, Walsall Council and YMCA Cheshire. But it was The Ferry Project that claimed the victory.

A familiar face and voice to millions, Andy Crane of Greatest Hits Radio, hosted the ceremony.  The Managing Director of the Housing Executive, Nick Fellows, presented the award.

Sandra Ferreira from Ferry Project said: “The Ferry Project supports people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity across Fenland through accommodation, support services, skills development and community engagement. Winning the Homelessness Project of the Year Award is a proud recognition of the commitment, compassion and innovation shown by our staff, volunteers, trustees, partners and residents. This achievement reflects the positive outcomes being delivered every day and our shared belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to rebuild their lives, achieve independence and thrive within their community.”
